Axles

Back
An axle is a rod or shaft that rotates the wheels and supports wheels.

Axles for vehicles are critical components that connect the wheels to the rest of the vehicle's powertrain. They are responsible for transmitting the torque from the electric motor to the wheels and must be designed to provide a smooth and efficient ride. Axles come in three main types: front, rear, and stub. Shing Shing Long produces front and rear axles for various vehicles, including traditional, electric, and refitted vehicles.

Front axles are a vital vehicle component that allows the wheels to spin freely and transfer power from the engine to the wheels. They are also responsible for assisting with steering and processing shocks from the road's uneven surface. Front axles are typically located near the engine at the front of the vehicle and provide a pivot point for the suspension and steering system. Front axles are often solid axles. They offer a single connection point between the wheels and are often used in front-engine-front-drive vehicles. At the same time, independent axles provide two connection points between the wheels, allowing them to move independently. Independent axles are often used in front-engine-rear-drive vehicles and withstand higher torque.

Rear axles are responsible for delivering power to the driving wheels.

Not all rear axles are identical, and the support and mounting methods determine the type. The three main types of rear axles are semi-floating, full-floating, and three-quarter floating axles. Semi-floating axles are the most common type of rear axle.
